Diary of a Plantation
Ordering the Plant Stock
Once the selection of species had been made, and the quantities estimated from the area to be planted (knowing that we would be planting at a density of 1100 stems per hectare), the seedlings were ordered.

These seedlings were grown in southern NSW from seed stock provided by Woollybutt. To ensure that the seeds had adequate time to develop into strong seedlings, the seedling order was placed in November 2005 (for planting in mid-2006). Ordering this far in advance is essential to ensure good quality seedlings for planting.

Several weeks before planting was to commence, the seedlings were delivered to John Woodley's property in Taggerty. John was to be in charge of all the planting.
